- The XM Nation 2005 awards were announced today. Sri Lankan dancehall queen M.I.A. handily defeated the over-hyped The Arcade Fire and Bloc Party for "Most Important Indie Emerging Artist" while our boy Ryan Adams kicked ass in the "Artist Most Overlooked by Mainstream Radio" category. Don't restore your faith in humanity just yet though. The Pussycat Dolls and that "Listen to Your Heart" cover also came up winners.
- Don't hold your breath for that Smiths reunion tour.
- Call NME. Pete Doherty is getting less cool by the second.
- Peter Buck's good band (sigh), the Minus 5, will release their next disc on Feb. 7th.
- The Strokes' "Juicebox" director is unhappy about edits that caused "the video's narrative through-line to fall apart." Hmm. We just wish it was a good song.
- Just Hawkins is mouthing off again. Dude, don't you have a new album to promote?
