Oh quit your belly-aching. SS is back...finally. Don't blame us, blame our wonderful service provider (whom shall remain nameless). Well, what's done is done, so let's catch up on the news:
- The big (if slightly stale) news: New Order (above) bring some Joy for the forthcoming Ian Curtis biopic.
- Morrissey's muse? You guessed it, a hot bath.
- The Strokes take aim at all the "Moss and Doherty" rubbish. Hey guys, anything that takes some press away from "Juicebox" has to be a good thing, no? In other news, the band will headline "One Earth."
- If anyone deserves his own license plate, after years of songs chronicling cars, highways that are alive and the redemptive power of the open road, it's Bruce Springsteen. Roll back the window and let the wind blow back your hair Jersey boys.
- Pete Doherty: And the hits keep on comin'. What the hell are we gonna write about when the dude finally kicks it?
- Death Cab for Cutie go all 50 Cent on us, to release videos for all 12 songs on Plans.
- Pitchfork release their annual "Best Of" lists. Solid picks, but guys...My Morning Jacket at #42???
- Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy, on a solo acoustic tour following the recent Kicking Television live set, is still down with file sharing.
via the Orlando Sentinel:
"I don't see it as a threat because I don't feel that it's a threat to have people more interested in music. I think what's happening with file sharing is that you have a lot more people hearing a lot more music, and I think more than anything else it has engendered an enthusiasm for music."
- Franz Ferdinand already have 14 songs in the can, geared up for a quick return to the studio in early 2006. Their muse? Well Kanye West of course.
