Cary Brothers Preps Debut LP
Cary Brothers might not be as famous at The Shins just yet, but the guy might owe nearly as much of his success to Zach Braff as they do. The soulful singer/songwriter's lovelorn tunes have turned up on Scrubs, as well as the Garden State and Last Kiss soundtracks, carving out a name for himself with a sound the combines acoustic folk and new wave for what could be described as LA's answer to Badly Drawn Boy. Between that, and his MySpace fame (approaching 4 million plays!), 2007 might just be his bust out year.

Brothers' debut full-length, Who You Are, hits stores on May 29. We have it, it's awesome (review to come), and you'll need it too for those listless, cigarette-fueled nights when Braff's "What does it all mean?" shtick doesn't feel like BS. (Insert contemplative stare into the distance here.)
Anyway, 20-something angst aside, Brothers is a real talent and deserves some props. Check out a whole bunch of his tunes at the official site ("Blue Eyes," "Honestly" and "Wasted One" are among our favorites), then dig the video for "Ride," the song that really put him on the map, below.
Oasis: Dig Out Your Soul
The Stills: Oceans Will Rise
The Hold Steady: Stay Positive
