Why is everyone so up in arms about "Falling Down," the lead track off Scarlett Johansson's LP of Tom Waits covers, Anywhere I Lay My Head?
Fine, the girl's not Alicia Keys. But her voice is pretty effective, if surprisingly low-register, and the shoe-gazey production is solid. Does it improve on the original? Well duh - of course not. But if she was an unknown, plenty of bloggers would be jumping on board the "next big thing" train. The accompanying video is another story all together.

After the mega-platinum success of Confessions, Everyone wanted to crown Usher the new MJ (especially Usher himself, methinks), but our money is still on Ne-Yo. "Closer" isn't the drastic departure from "boring" R&B he'd been promising for Year of the Gentleman, but if it ain't broke...
