I'm made no secret of my disappointment over Kaiser Chiefs' bloated sophomore LP, Yours Truly, Angry Mob. So it's good to see the band getting over trying to be the biggest band on the planet, and back to writing sharp, punchy, British post-punk. It might not cracked the top 50 Stateside, but the critics will dig it, and the blogosphere always loves a comeback.
Kaiser Chiefs' 3rd LP, Off With Their Heads, is due on 10.13

Minus the Bear - Planet of Ice: While it doesn't break any new ground, this would qualify as the band's "serious" record
Tegan and Sara - The Con: The Quin sisters employing the sharp production skills of Chris Wala (Death Cab for Cutie)
Fountains of Wayne - Traffic and Weather: So-so tunes, but still infuses mundane snapshots of life with wit to spare
