The Whitsundsays Channel Brit Pop Past and Present

The Whitsundays cite the Zombies, the Animals and Syd Barrett as influences, and they are right, there's surely nods to 60s pop and psychedelia on thoroughly-excellent tracks like "It Must Be Me" and "Sorry James," but just as prevalent are moments recalling later-day indie rock in the vein of The Shins and Belle & Sebastian.  So listen up teenagers and 20-somethings: If your parents are of the aging hips variety, this might be an album to bond over.

The Whitsundays' debut LP will hit stores on January 22 via Friendly Fire Recordings.  Grab two tracks below, and hit up MySpace for more.
